This is not a government take over. Congress is posing a Public OPTION. If you don't want to enroll...stick with Private Insurance. No one is required to join any kind of government plan.
Now here's some common lies about the reform:
Pg 50 and Pg 91 - Illegal Aliens will get healthcare.
Flat out lie...Subtitle C - Section 246 EXPLICITLY states that NO ONE who is here unlawfully will be covered.
Pg 59 - Govt will have direct access to your bank accounts for electronic transfer of funds.
Flat out lie...The bill wants to standardize administrative transactions and digitize them to ENABLE people to pay with an electronic funds transfer.
Pg 318 - Prohibits hospitals from expanding.
Flat out lie...They can expand as much as they want. But there's something called the "Rural Hospital Exception". Doctors are not permitted to own a large share of a hospital. But in a RURAL hospital that law doesn't apply. Rural hospitals CAN expand...but if they expand over 100%, they become subject to this "doctor ownership" restriction.
Pg 354 Govt will RESTRICT enrollment of Special Needs people.
Flat out lie...this section is an amendment to the Social Security Act that says, in the case of a specialized MA plan, the plan can restrict enrollment to one or more classes of special needs people. This sections does NOT deny them healthcare. It merely bestows an administrative right to help people get the plan thats right for them.
